We'll spend the night together, Wake up and live forever

The ideas of forever, infinity, and eternity are ones that certainly my mind, as well as numerous others throughout the history of mankind, have had a tough time wrapping itself around. The goal of eternal life seems to be the focus of most religions, as well as other groups. Philosophers have struggled with the notion of eternity since the days of Ancient Greece. Alchemists have attempted to achieve immortality. Even the first Harry Potter book focuses on acquiring the philosopher's stone in order to live forever. Jamiroquai, a band many of you may remember from the 90s with the hit songs of "Virtual Insanity" and "Canned Heat", also tried to understand these ideas. Recently Fred Falke and Alan Breaks made a remix of their song "Alright". This song also deals with the notion of eternal life. The lines "You know it's now or never, to say hello and live forever" and "we'll spend the night together, wake up and live forever" are certainly intriguing and inspiring. Here's the link to a download of the song for all of you:

Changing gears a little bit, I'll move on to the Grateful Dead. They are absolutely one of my favorite bands of all time. I, of course, love the music, but also find the culture and influence surround them extremely interesting. Here's an article from a couple days ago previewing their upcoming tour: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/12/arts/music/12ratl.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=bring%20out%20your%20dead&st=cse

Much of the article discusses many fans' desire to find the best show that they ever played. While this is certainly a futile quest, many argue that the May 8, 1977 show that they played at Cornell marks the pinnacle of their storied career. You can download the show from this link if you please:http://www.archive.org/details/gd77-05-08.maizner.hicks.5002.sbeok.shnf

To close out I'll leave you with a Dead lyric from the song "Scarlet Begonias" that holds significant meaning to my life, "once in a while, you get shown the light, in the strangest of places, if you look at it right."
