Bring Me Champagne When I'm Thirsty, Bring Me A Reefer When I Want To Get High

As a former weed smoker, 4/20 holds a special place in my heart. Yeah, this is corny to say but I know that everyone who will be enjoying that magical plant, which for reasons unknown to me is illegal, knows what I'm saying. Although I can't smoke anymore, today's post will be dedicated to all of you. Hopefully these songs add to the haze you'll be in the rest of the day. To start off, I'll be going back into the past all the way to some straight blues. If you haven't heard of Muddy Waters, then you've never truly experienced the blues. His song "Champagne and Reefer is a straight up blues jam. He also throws in some truth saying "Well you know there should be no law/ on people that want to smoke a little dope./ Well you know it's good for your head/ and it relax your body don't you know." Here it is:

From the blues, we'll move into the 60s, which is most likely the most psychedelic decade in the history of mankind. Two of the most prolific artists from the 60s were Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles. As both are notorious for their LSD use, weed certainly played a big role in their music. Hendrix's song "Purple Haze" absolutely speaks to the subject, "Purple Haze all in my brain/ Lately things don't seem the same/ Actin' funny, and I don't know why/ 'scuse me while I kiss the sky." Here's a demo of the song from Jimi Hendrix Demos 1967. It gets real trippy about halfway through:

Unknown to many, keyboardist Billy Preston is considered by some to have been the "5th Beatle". This next song is a mashup of Preson's song "Space Race" and the Beatles' "In My Life". Real spacy and funky, definitely check this one out as it's probably my favorite song out of the one's that I'm posting today:

I'll switch gears now to some modern rap. Kanye West certainly partakes in all types of psychedelics (check out the "Heartless" video and try to argue with me). I recently found a new Clipse song featuring Yeezy called "Kinda Like a Big Deal". All I'll say is that I've recently fallen out of love with Hip Hop a little but this song is dope:

I'll skip over to a video of Andy Milonakis rapping about the absurdity of Twitter. Milonakis, while he looks like a 15 year old boy, is actually 33 years old and is fucking hilarious:

To close out, I'll post a link to a list of the 10 most successful potheads who have admitted that they smoke. Maybe the lawmakers could take a look at this, as well as the drug wars going on in Mexico which are certainly a product of the current status of marijuana being illegal. If weed was legal, there'd be no black market for it, which the drug lords thrive upon. Anyways, here's the link to the article. It's pretty eye-opening:

Enjoy everything and smoke an extra joint for me as I wish I could partake.
